A new report has revealed that Apple’s iPhone X was the best-selling smartphone globally in March, with the iPhone 8 Plus coming second and Xiaomi’s Redmi 5A third to complete the top 3 best-selling devices.
According to the April Edition of Counterpoint’s Market Pulse report, the iPhone X dominated the whole first quarter of 2018 with a 3.5 percent market share.
Coming at 2.3 percent market share, the iPhone 8 Plus was second.
Xiaomi’s Redmi 5A came third at 1.8 percent market share.
The report also revealed that the Redmi 5A was the best-selling Android smartphone in the month of March, coming before Oppo’s mid-segment smartphone A83, and Samsung’s Galaxy S9 and S9+.
Oppo’s A83 grabbed the fourth spot on the global best-selling list while the Galaxy S9 and S9+ were fifth and sixth respectively.
In recent times, Samsung has faced increasing competition in the mid- and low-tier segments with Chinese OEMs like Oppo, Vivo, Huawei and Xiaomi proving tough.
According to Counterpoint’s report, Xiaomi, Samsung, and Huawei’s Honor captured almost half the $100-$199 price band.
