Facebook for Android Dark Mode

The Facebook app for Android now has a dark mode. Already, a number of users of the app have been able to switch to the dark mode. This may however only be a test rollout for now.

Android Police reports that Facebook is currently offering the feature to some Android users. There have been testimonials on Twitter, Reddit, and other platforms, that show that some Facebook app users already have access to the dark mode. Testimonials are available especially from India, Malaysia, and Italy.

Already, some of the other applications of the Facebook brand have gotten dark modes. We see it on Instagram and Facebook Messenger. Now, Facebook has it. WhatsApp’s dark mode is still in development.

It is possible that this rollout is only a small-scale test for now. Facebook is probably only testing what the outcome of a global deployment would be.

A while ago, Manchun Wong located some traces of a dark mode in the code for the Facebook Android app. Later, Facebook introduced the dark mode to the platform’s desktop version. At the moment though, we do not know when this feature will be available for all Android users.
