Huawei seems to be working on a new design that is set to be the iPhone X killer.
A new leak has revealed that the next iPhone X killer coming from China will have a design that stands out from other devices’ designs, even Apple devices’.
According to reports, a Plus or Pro version of the Huawei P20 will come with a triple-lens camera setup. It is not clear why that is so. Some images seen on Android Authority however show a P20 version with just two lenses on the back. But that is not even the crux of the iPhone X killer here.
The phone comes with incredibly small top and bottom bezels, as well as minimal side bezels. There also seems to be a Face ID-like camera on the front. It is assumed that this may power 3D face recognition, like the iPhone X.
Already, Huawei is working on such technology, and the company has revealed that its will be better than the iPhone X’s.
With the absence of a physical fingerprint sensor on the back of the device, it is not clear whether Huawei is ditching the sensor entirely (as in the iPhone X) or the fingerprint sensor is built into the screen.
However, what seems to be the crux of the design is the fact that the P20 has only one physical side button. This button is supposedly the power button. However, touch indicators are present above it, and these may work for volume control.
The single button design makes the P20 stand out, and this means that we may soon have smartphones with no physical buttons at all.
Apple has already killed the home button, but a mute switch, two volume rockers and a standby switch are still present on the sides.
Although physical buttons are not exactly annoying, smartphones of the future may ditch them entirely, and use smarter solutions instead.
