LG was expected to unveil its next flagship smartphone, the V40, at IFA 2018 in Berlin last week. However, for some reason, LG has decided to delay the launch of the flagship smartphone.
The LG V40 will apparently retain the same aesthetic as the V30 and V35. It may also include LG’s Quad DA, and a button for Google Assistant that will be found along the volume rocker. On the back, there will also be a fingerprint sensor. Other sensors include Light sensor, Proximity sensor, Accelerometer, Compass, Gyroscope. There’s a large display on the front that likely uses an OLED panel, and similar to the G7 before it, the V40 also features a notch at the top. Inside that notch, you’ll find two front-facing cameras and an earpiece for phone calls.
The LG V40 mobile features a 6.3″ (16 cm) display with a screen resolution of 1440 x 2960 pixels and runs on Android 8.1 (Oreo) operating system. The device is powered by Octa core processors (Quad-core 2.8GHz Kryo 385 + Quad-core 1.8GHz Kryo 385), paired with 4GB of RAM. It comes with a 3,500mAh battery.
The LG V40 comes with five cameras consisting of a triple lens setup on the back and a dual camera on the front. The front-facing cameras may feature a “stereo configuration” that will allow recording a 3D map of the face. As for the three rear cameras, ET News reported that the phone will have a 20-megapixel primary lens, 16-megapixel wide-angle lens, and a 13-megapixel telephoto lens. It was earlier reported that LG might follow Huawei into triple camera territory, and this seems to be it. For graphical performance that can make games run smoothly, the phone has got a Adreno 630 GPU. On board storage is at 64GB with the option to expand the memory up to 2TB.
Audio has always been the V series’ stand-out category, and the V40 specs show that it will not disappoint. It includes a QuadDAC and Stereo Boombox sound. An IP68 rating and MIL-STD 810G certification should protect you against accidental drops and dips.
The LG V40 will be launched in October, along with other flagships from other companies, like the Huawei Mate 20 which Huawei confirms will be powered by the new 7nm Kirin 980 SoC.
