The Dimensity 800U chipset comes bearing slight differences from the Dimensity 800. One major highlight of the new chip is that it is quite more affordable than the Dimensity 800.
Talking of features, the Dimensity 800U chipset uses an integrated 5G modem. It also offers dual 5G SIM support (SA and NSA modes). The chip is built on the same TSMC 7nm process but it features higher CPU speeds than the Dimensity 800.

The Dimensity 800U uses an octa-core CPU featuring two Cortex-A76 cores clocking in at 2.4GHz and six Cortex-A55 cores clocking in at 2.0GHz. The increased CPU speeds are for the two Cortex-A76 cores which clock in at only 2.0GHz on the Dimensity 800. In terms of GPU, the MediaTek Dimensity 800U uses the Mali-G57 MC3 with storage bumped up to UFS 2.2 speeds.
Some other features of the Dimensity 800U chipset are dual Voice over New Radio (VoNR) and 5G two carrier aggregation (2CC 5G-CA). It also supports FHD+ display panels with up to 120Hz refresh rates. In addition, the chip supports up to 64MP camera sensors with up to 4K video recording at 30FPS.
