LG Electronics has confirmed that a new premium brand smartphone will be unveiled in the coming months.
LG Electronics will unveil a new premium brand smartphone later this year. This will come at a separate event in the coming months. However, according to Hwang Jeong-Hwan, LG’s Mobile boss, development of the phone is not over yet. He said this at a Press Conference at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2018.
While Hwang revealed that it was too early to announce a precise date, he confirmed that the premium brand smartphone would be unveiled within the first half of 2018.
“There will be an event where we will showcase a new premium model smartphone soon. But starting this year, we are trying out different strategies and will not follow rivals. We are thinking of fundamentals.”
At CES 2018 in January, LG Electronics CEO, Jo Seong-Jin, said that if the need arises, the company will change the brand names of its flagship phones, but that nothing was finalized. The company’s flagship phones currently use the brand names G and V.
Hwang said that consumers did not know the company’s strengths, and that the company had lost trust.
“We are trying to rebuild that trust, and sales will automatically follow. It is too early to unveil all our efforts but there will be improvements going forward,” he said.
