Nubia, at IFA 2018 in Berlin on Friday, revealed the Nubia Alpha wearable Smartphone idea on which production will begin in Q4 2018.
This Nubia Alpha holds more water than the other tech exhibits that were encased behind a glass box at the trade show. This is normal since it is going on sale, and also in light of the fact that it is made by a known Chinese manufacturer. In addition to the Nubia Alpha, the company exhibited the Nubia Red Magic, a gaming smartphone set to be updated with a Snapdragon 845 SoC and with shoulder triggers, among others at the trade show.
The Nubia Alpha incorporates the use of Flex, Nubia’s exclusive adaptable display innovation, and highlights a light strip enabling users to customize it using themes. The smartphone comes with a well-tuned proximity sensor.
As with many other tech we have seen on other wearable gadgets over the years, the Nubia Alpha wearable smartphone runs on the Android OS, although no clues were given about which version. In any case, there is a 4G network, and a smart camera with one-contact modes and a little speaker on the external border of the device, in addition to sensors to interchange the display work on either wrist. The device does not have wireless charging support; it uses a charging module of pins to interface with the battery inside.
The idea of the Nubia Alpha doesn’t exactly shout style. This probably does not matter much though, as that is not why Nubia had it in plain view. It’s a first look — an approach to showcase Nubia’s skills — and it’s something that may go well on your wrist. While an entire fold over arm jewelry style of the screen would be needless, given the amount of it you could see immediately, the Nubia Alpha shows us more screen than we’ve seen previously.
