Qualcomm is reportedly set to release a successor to Snapdragon 855+. It is expected that its improvement is to be called the Snapdragon 865. Qualcomm’s next flagship chipset, according to a reliable Chinese source, is to be announced at Qualcomm’s annual Tech summit.
The source believes the flagship chipset will have 4G and 5G variants, and is to be based on Samsung’s 7mn EUV process. Specs-wise, it is expected that the Snapdragon 865 will have a main ARM Cortex A77 core clocked at 2.84GHz with three more A77 cores running at 2.42GHz, and four A55 cores clocked at 1.8GHz.
In terms of GPU, the Snapdragon 865 will use the Adreno 650 which should offer 20% better efficiency than the Adreno 640. Furthermore, the Snapdragon 865 CPU should see a 20% increase in speed from the Snapdragon 855+.
Other rumors suggest that the chipset will support LPDDR5 RAM. Top brands like Xiaomi and Samsung are predicted to use the chip for their devices first ahead of their competitors.
