A firmware version of Samsung’s latest Galaxy S20 series has appeared online. From the photos, we see that not only can you switch between 60Hz and 120Hz refresh rate. It also includes a “Dynamic” option that automatically switches between the refresh rates. This information was shared on Twitter by Ice Universe.
The Samsung Galaxy S20 lineup launched a couple of days ago with up to 120Hz refresh rate. This refresh rate will make animations more realistic and make scrolling smoother. However, it comes at a cost.
The WQHD+120Hz mode may improve display quality, but it tells on battery life. So, if you choose to enjoy the more realistic animations and smoother scrolling, you will pay with your battery juice.
The “Dynamic” mode means that your phone will balance between display quality and battery life by automatically switching between 60Hz and 120Hz as needed.
We do not yet know if Samsung will implement such a solution soon. But we are looking forward to it.
