Video calls can be initiated from a contacts profile page. Telegram also supports picture-in-picture, allowing users scroll through chats, as well as multi-task while calling.

As mentioned earlier, all video calls made on the App are encrypted, and encryption is confirmed via the use of emojis. If the same set of emojis are displayed on both ends, it indicates that the call is end-to-end encrypted.

Telegram recently released a blog post stating “2020 highlighted the need for face-to-face communication, and our alpha version of video calls is now available on both Android and iOS”.

“Telegram has never advertised and every user has come to the app because of a recommendation from someone they trust. We’ve heard you as well, and will continue to develop features that make Telegram much more than just a messaging app”, the company added.
