So far this year, Nokia has released a number of phones in the budget to mid-range segments. However, users are still waiting for a true flagship from HMD before the end of the year. With just a few months to go in the year, we might expect a flagship from the company sometime soon.
In light of this, a new Nokia phone has been spotted on China’s 3C certification site. This phone could really be the flagship we have been waiting for.

Having a model number of TA-1131, the device is being speculated to be the rumored Nokia 9 flagship. However, not much can be confirmed at the moment, because the certification does not reveal much about the device. The only fact mentioned is that the device supports 5V/3A, 9V/2A, and 12V/1.5A charging speeds. What this means is that it will come with fast charging support. A lot of Nokia phones support fast charging, so this is not much of a surprise.
While the certification does not reveal a lot of details, it shows us that a new Nokia phone is indeed in the works. Considering the fact that HMD has already released a number of budget phones, this could as well be the 2018 flagship.
This new Nokia phone will likely be launched in China before going global. This is a trend that HMD followed with the Nokia X5 and Nokia X6, which launched globally as Nokia 5.1 and Nokia 6.1 respectively.
Earlier this year, HMD launched the Nokia 8 Sirocco. However, this cannot really be called a true 2018 flagship, considering the fact that it features last year’s hardware. It is more apt to describe the Nokia 8 Sirocco as a statement from the company to make us understand that it can actually come up with flagship-level smartphones that can compete fiercely when it comes to looks.
There were rumors back in March, about the possible launch of a Nokia 8 Pro and Nokia 9 in the second half of 2018. So, it is quite okay to assume that the new phone on 3C certification is the Nokia 9. Rumor has it that the Nokia 9 will be powered by the Snapdragon 845 chipset, and will sport a penta-lens setup. It could be the one being featured in the rumor about Nokia working on a phone with 5 cameras.
This might be a good phone for HMD to cap off the year, and users are expectant. Let us know what you think about this in the Comments section below.
