Xiaomi CEO, Lei Jun, has revealed that the company has plans to launch more than ten 5G phones next year. Already, Xiaomi has launched a number of 5G phones this year.
What is most interesting is that the Chinese smartphone giant will not limit this 5G support to flagship devices. Xiaomi plans to offer 5G connectivity to devices ranging from high-end to mid-range and low-end phones.
A report by Reuters has it that Jun revealed this while speaking at the World Internet Conference in China. We also got wind that the Xiaomi Mi 9 Pro 5G’s success greatly influenced this decision. The Xiaomi Mi 9 Pro 5G was reportedly so successful that it led to inventory issues, exceeding expectations.
According to Jun, “People in the industry fear that next year 4G models won’t sell, this is a step you have no choice but to take. So we hope that operators can speed up their expansion of 5G base stations.”
Asides from the Xiaomi Mi 9 Pro 5G, we also have the Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 5G supporting 5G connectivity. The Mi Mix Alpha 5G concept has also gone official.
Now, talking about the future, the Redmi K30 has been officially teased to offer dual-band 5G support. In addition, Xiaomi has announced plans to feature the integrated Snapdragon 7 series chipsets with 5G support in its upcoming phones. We look forward to actually seeing all the 5G phones from Xiaomi next year.
